If you have numerous devices and need to link to a router, you should find one that works for you. You may have a number of PCs, printers, and possibly smart phones or tablets that need network access. The Netgear N750 (WNDR4000) had excellent ratings, but for the little bit extra to pay, you can buy their top model, the Netgear N900 (WNDR4500). As soon as you get it out of the box, it may be installed on your home network in about 5 minutes.

You need to simply hook up the cable and the power then connect the computer directly to the Netgear router to begin the setup. There's no CD-ROM to do a set up, instead you connect to a webpage via your internet browser. Type in routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1 and press enter and you are going to be taken to the Netgear Genie program. Basic parameters may be changed along with higher advanced functions, are a few of the things you'll have to do. You could hook up printers and hard disk drives to your network because of the two USB ports, and it has DLNA functionality. It is a really simple menu that the Genie has, and whenever a status changes you are going to know it. You can easily check to see if everything is perfectly connected to the router.

Unlike other routers, the Netgear is somewhat big but it includes a clear base so you can stand it upright. Even with Ethernet cables hooked up, the router with the base is secure enough to not tip over. Even though the router is somewhat on the high end, it is worth the money spent. If you intend to do lots of gaming or watching streamed HD content, then this router will work nicely. It emits a really powerful signal so you should be able to connect easily in pretty much every location in your home. One consumer was able to have a few laptops, two PS3s, tablets, kindles and a printer all linked to the network with virtually no slow down or hitch. The consumer was able to watch streaming video with no problems although other gadgets were downloading software, ebooks and large files. He was pleased with his routers, despite other people having a few problems.

Yet another customer's review said that the router is his favorite soon after doing some comprehensive testing. The router had no dropped connections or random restarts despite the fact that he had 11 distinct devices linked over WiFi. With regular firmware updates, he expects the router to get much better.

You could pay a top-of-the-line router such as the Netgear N900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR4500) for a top-of-the-line cost. You could get great performance for the cost. Do your homework to find out if your network would need something as effective as the Netgear N900.
